Hotel Excelsior is located in the city centre, in one block of the architectural faculty of the Belgrade University where you may find also other blocks are assigned to the faculty of Electrical engineering, the faculty of mechanical engineering, the faculty of chemistry and a faculty of law. There is also the Svetozar Markovic university library. The distance to the Belgrade Airport is only 20,5 km.

The hotel opened on March 14th 1924 . Due to historical and political occurences the hotel was used for many different things. During World War II it housed the german Genral Staff, and from 1945 – 1948 it was used to accommodate the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. It was only returned to it's original function in 1948 when it changed ownership, from private hands to the to an ownership by the employees. During the time it has been in operation the hotel “Excelsior" has been characterized by a tradition of excellence and good service. Before World War II it played host to many famous and respectable guests, starting with Josephine Baker, foreign and domestic states men, politicians, barons, countesses and others. This tradition has been honored by the hotel “Excelsior” to this day.
